Black Lake, Louisiana by EmileeSelf Black Lake, Louisiana by EmileeSelf
Yesterday was dreadful. Highways were flooded and closed, class wasn't canceled. Today, it was a brisk 31 degrees with lots of fog. Beautiful Black Lake cypress has changed from green and muddy brown to bright a vibrant red. I love where I live!

I have only written three critiques in the five months I have been a member of dA—I wrote them because I thought the art was of exceptional in quality and content. I have seen a lot of art in my years and though I am not a photographer and tend to view photographs as paintings I feel very comfortable in stating that Black Lake is everything an image should be.
The tallest timber stretches from the sky to the foreground and splits the image in to a stenographic display of nature’s ever changing beauty ---the mist in the mid-ground adds a mystique to the fantastically reflective lake while the dark shore line anchors the entire picture
Something nasty happened here! The trees were striped by wind or fire—a catastrophic event tried to wrench the life from them.
This is a story of rebirth ----------------(the new growth at the base of the trees)—-----------------Life s fight against death and the story can be heard in this marvelously stunning piece of art by those of us with the eyes to hear.
Thank you for sharing---------------Gipgm2
